Both are the same encrypted core as the phone apps wrapped in a real desktop application. Neither ships through a store, so both update themselves from our own release feed — which means we can fix something on a Tuesday without waiting for a review queue.We are not putting a date on it. They ship when they install cleanly and behave exactly like the other four, not on a day picked in advance. Until then the web app is the whole product in a browser: same account, same encryption, still nothing stored.Why they cannot drift apartEverything that has to agree between devices — the encryption, the way messages are packed, the codes you use to verify each other — is one shared core that every app compiles against.
