private.ai sets no cookies: not on this website, not in the web app, and not in the mobile apps. We also load no third-party analytics or advertising scripts that could set cookies on our behalf. This page explains what that means, what we do keep in your browser, and how we measure our advertising without following you.
Because nothing we store is optional tracking, there is nothing for you to consent to, which is why you will not see a cookie banner here.
1. No cookies, and how to check
We set no first-party cookies. There is no Google Analytics, and no advertising pixel from Google, Meta, X, or anyone else on any page. You can verify this yourself: open your browser's developer tools on any page of this site and look at the cookie list for this domain. It should be empty.
2. What we keep in your browser
Browsers offer storage that is not a cookie: it stays on your device and is never attached to requests. We use it for the following, and nothing else.
- Your sign-in token. Keeps you signed in between visits. Removed when you sign out.
- Your chats, folders, prompts, and memories, encrypted on your device. We cannot read them, and they never leave your device unless you export or sync them yourself.
- Preferences such as theme, app lock, and response settings.
- A campaign tag. If you arrive through an advertising link, we keep the campaign parameters in that link, and which landing page you saw, for up to 30 days. They are sent to us only if you sign up, so we can tell which campaigns bring paying customers. No identifier of yours is attached to them.
- A random per-tab id for our own measurement, described below. It is discarded when you close the tab, and the moment you sign in.
The first three are needed to run the service. The last two exist only so we can measure which advertising works. They never identify you and are never shared. If you would rather we not keep the campaign tag, clear this site's data in your browser or open the site in a private window; nothing depends on it.
3. How we measure advertising without following you
We use PostHog, self-hosted on our own servers, with no cookies and no cross-site tracking. On the public website it records page views and signup steps, tagged with the campaign that brought you and the random per-tab id above. It stops the moment you sign in, and nothing is recorded inside the app.
Nothing is sent to Google, Meta, or any advertising platform. They receive no conversion signal and no audience data from us. The trade-off is deliberate: those platforms cannot tune their bidding toward our customers, and you cannot be retargeted after visiting us.
4. Third parties you may encounter
- Stripe handles card payments on Stripe's own checkout pages, under Stripe's cookie policy. No Stripe code runs on our pages.
- Coinbase Commerce handles cryptocurrency payments on Coinbase's own pages, likewise.
- Cloudflare Turnstile is a bot check shown only on the manual-payment signup page. In the mode we use it sets no cookies.
5. Inside the app
Once you sign in, no measurement of any kind runs: no page views, no events, no analytics identity. The random per-tab id is deleted at sign-in. There is no cookie-derived or analytics-derived history of your use of private.ai to disclose to anyone, because none is created.
6. Changes to this policy
If we ever change what is stored in your browser or add a third-party script, this page will say so before the change goes live, with the date above updated.
